** A big recruiting day for the Gator football program develops on Monday when three players commit to the 2014 class. (See story on this website) There is also an update from Gator coach Will Muschamp on the progress of his team as the August 31st opening day gets closer.
** In the wake of the Johnny Manziel autograph NCAA investigation, former Gator assistant and current Louisville coach Charlie Strong will not allow his players to sign autographs at the team’s Fan Day. Instead, Strong will have another one of their practices open to the public. UF’s Fan Day will allow fans to bring posters for players to sign.
** In the MLB, a rare loss for the Atlanta Braves as they lose 5-1 to Philadelphia while red hot Kansas City stops Miami 6-2. Tampa Bay plays tonight at home against Seattle.
** The Philadelphia 76ers have apparently hired San Antonio Spurs assistant Brett Brown to be their new head coach; he reportedly will get a four year deal to replace Doug Collins.
