Florida defensive coordinator DJ Durkin says he likes the progress his defense is making in camp so far this season. Meeting with the media Wednesday, Durkin praised Florida defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson who has experienced recent success on the recruiting trail:
Durkin also spoke on the subject of what type of Ronald Powell Gator fans can expect to see during the season.
He also talked about a snap count for cornerback/wide receiver Loucheiz Purifoy so he would not be overworked.
Durkin also said if he had to make out his starting linebacker group out today with Antonio Morrison suspended, he would have Darren Kitchens, Mike Taylor and Neiron Ball at those positions.
And at safety, an area of concern after the departures of two veterans, Durkin said he is pleased with the play of converted corner Gerald Riggs, Jabari Gorman, redshirt freshman Marcus Maye and newcomer Keanu Neal.
You can see some of these players in Florida’s first open to the public practice tonight at 7:30 at the Gator lacrosse fields.
