** The Gator soccer team is now 2-0 after beating Oregon State 3-1 at home Sunday (see story on our website) and now the Gators will next host in state rival FSU on Friday.
** Gator football is preparing for its season opener Saturday at home against the Toledo Rockets. Toledo was 9-4 and a bowl team a year ago.
** Former Gator wide receiver Omarius Hines was released by the Green Bay Packers as teams must get their rosters down to 75 players by tomorrow.
** Adam Scott is the winner of the Barclays PGA Tournament in New Jersey. He was at 11 under par and wins by a stroke.
** In MLB action, New York downs Tampa Bay 3-2 as the Rays stay a game back of Boston in the AL East. The Rays play at Kansas City tonight while Boston is off. Atlanta downs St.Louis 5-2 as Mike Minor wins his 13th game; the Braves are off today. Colorado downs Miami 4-3 and the Marlins are also off today.
