NFL rosters had to be trimmed to 53 players as of Saturday as the regular season begins this Thursday, and among the cuts were several former Gator football players.
The biggest name is quarterback Tim Tebow, who was cut by the New England Patriots. He cleared waivers and is officially a free agent but he has not been signed by another team.
Other Gators cut are punter Chas Henry, wide receivers Omarius Hines and David Nelson, offensive lineman Xavier Nixon and defensive linemen Jaye Howard and Jermaine Cunningham. All of the Gator players drafted this past April made their respective teams.
