The ninth ranked Gator soccer team hosts the final game of a home stand Friday when it welcomes in the University of Minnesota. While the Golden Gophers were predicted by Big Ten coaches to finish seventh in the conference, they have surprised and are unbeaten early in the season. Making this feat more impressive are the two wins against quality SEC opponents LSU and Mississippi. Florida head coach Becky Burleigh believes Minnesota will help prepare the Gators for their conference schedule.
Meanwhile, the Gators will be relying upon true freshman Savannah Jordan to continue her hot start to the season. Jordan’s six goals are tied for ninth in the nation for most goals scored. Coach Burleigh says that if Jordan continues to put herself in position good things will happen.
The Gators inaugural matchup against the Golden Gophers will begin on Friday night at 7pm at James G. Pressly Stadium. On Sunday, Florida will travel to face USF.
You can hear Friday’s match live on ESPN 850 WRUF at 6:50pm and Sunday’s match at 5:50pm.
