High School Football Preview Week 3

Week 3 of the local high school football schedule is underway and will continue Friday night at many local teams will hit the field. On Wednesday night, the St. Francis Wolves were beaten by the Florida School for the Deaf by a score of 32-14. The Wolves fall to 0-3 on the season and will look to improve as they will return home to face P.K Yonge next Friday night. Here are some other key matchups this weekend.

Keystone Heights (1-1) @ Union County (2-0)– The Keystone Heights Indians are coming into this game fresh off a 19-0 victory over Wildwood. Indians head coach Chuck Dickinson talks about the tough matchup the Tigers pose year in and year out.

On the other side, the Union County Tigers are coming into this game 2-0 on the season fresh off victories over Potters House Christian and West Nassau. After a tough 13-10 victory over West Nassau, Tigers head coach Ronny Pruitt talks about his team’s defense which has been very successful this year.

Santa Fe (1-1) @ Suwannee (1-0)– Both teams will be coming into this game searching for their second win on the season. The Santa Fe Raiders are coming off a 39-0 shutout over Jacksonville Episcopal. Raiders head coach Bill Wiles knows this matchup against the Bulldogs will be tough and he talks about what to look for in Friday’s game.

The Bulldogs will be looking to stay unbeaten coming off their 19-6 victory over Hamilton County a week ago.

Buchholz (2-0) @ Columbia (2-0)– In this matchup the Bobcats will head to Columbia to take on the Tigers in this battle of two teams looking to stay unbeaten. The Bobcats will be looking for revenge after a tough loss to the Tigers a year ago 55-14. Bobcats head coach Mark Whittemore says just like last year, this Tigers team has loads of talent across the board.

The Tigers are entering this game with two quality victories over Tallahassee Lincoln and Gainesville High School, and will look to make quick work of the Bobcats to move to 3-0 on the year.

Some other area games on Friday will feature Gainesville High hosting Madison County, PK Yonge hosting Bishop Snyder, Newberry hosting Jefferson County, Eastside at Ocala Trinity Catholic and Oak Hall hosting Branford.
