Savannah Jordan has done it again. The freshmen striker had the only two goals in the Florida Gators 2-0 victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday. The Gators, however, started off slow and missed on several of their opportunities in the first half. They had five shots and four corners in the first 45 minutes of play that just couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. Once the second half started, Florida continued to apply pressure until they finally pushed through.
The first Jordan goal was assisted by defender Lauren Silver, who played magnificent balls forward all night. Roughly two minutes later, Jordan would score again inside the box to put the Gators up two.
That’s all the Gators would need as the Florida backline and goalkeeper Nora Neset Gjøen keep their side of the pitch relatively clear. This was Neset Gjøen’s first game back from a concussion that sidelined her during the FSU matchup two weeks ago.
The Gators are now looking forward to facing USF in Tampa on Sunday with the players taking the field at 6 pm. You can catch all the action of that game on ESPN 850 WRUF with coverage starting at 5:50.
