A Look Around the NFL

A look at some of the NFL results from this past Sunday…

The Miami Dolphins are now 2-0 after a road victory, upsetting the Indianapolis Colts 24-20.  Quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 319 yards and one touchdown. Miami’s top receiver Mike Wallace contributed to the win by leading the Dolphins with nine receptions for 115 yards. Tannehill says the key difference is involving Wallace early.

Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis colts suffered their first lost at home in 12 months.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell just short after a 16-14 weather-delayed loss to the New Orleans Saints yesterday.  Garrett Hartley sealed the win for the Saint’s with a 27 yard field goal as time expired.  The Bucs played top notch defense to remain in the game, but the offense came up short.  Tampa’s quarterback Josh Freeman completed only 9 of 22 passes for 125 yards. Bucs head coach Greg Schiano says the good defense will be overshadowed by the loss.

The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a 19-9 loss against the Oakland Raiders yesterday. Oakland’s Darren McFadden ran for 129 yards and quarterback Terrelle Pryor ran for 50 yards and threw for 126.  The Jaguars gained three yards or fewer on 11 of their 23 first-down plays. Jags wide receiver Cecil Shorts III says there is no one to blame for the loss but themselves.

Elsewhere in the NFL…

The Sunday Night NFL game victory belongs to the Seattle Seahawks who blew out the San Francisco 49ers 29-3 in a lighting delayed game.  The Houston Texans grabbed a 30-24 overtime win against the Tennessee Titans after Houston rookie DeAndre Hopkins caught a three yard touchdown pass to seal the deal.

Other NFL wins include the New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, and Denver Broncos.

Monday Night Football tonight includes the Cincinnati Bengals playing host to the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Both teams started off the season with a loss; you can hear the game live starting at 8 here on ESPN 850 WRUF.
