It only took the fourth ranked Gator volleyball team (9-1) three sets to defeat 17th ranked Florida State (6-4) in the O’Dome on Tuesday (25-20, 26-24, 25-23).
Behind strong performances from seniors Chloe Mann (12 kills) and Taylor Brauneis (36 assists), the Gators were able to regain their composure after losing five of the match’s first six points. But it was redshirt sophomore Simone Antwi who had a breakout performance. Antwi set a career-high with seven blocks.
After the match Taylor Unroe (9 digs) couldn’t resist taking one more shot at FSU, while also thanking the fans.
Tuesday was Florida’s 21st sweep of the Noles in program history and, under Mary Wise, the Gators are now 17-0 all-time at home against FSU (29-3 overall). But Wise says none of those wins have come easy.
Up next for the Gators is the Marquette Invitational in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this weekend. They’ll take on Marquette Friday night, you can hear that game live on ESPN850-WRUF starting with pregame coverage at 7:50.
