** The Gator football team prepares for a road game this week against Kentucky and Gator coach Will Muschamp says his team is relatively healthy for the game. Muschamp said cornerback Marcus Roberson, who did not start last week because of a knee injury, should be back as should Loucheiz Purifoy, who sustained a thigh bruise during the game.
** Meanwhile Gator quarterback Jeff Driskel will have his season ending surgery on Wednesday to repair a broken leg; the expected recovery time is four to six months.
** Speaking of injuries, Nathan Peterman, who started at quarterback for Tennessee against Florida last week, will have to have surgery on his right hand that he injured in the Gator game. He will miss at least four weeks.
** On Monday Night Football, the Denver Broncos move to 3-0 on the year with a 37-21 win over the Oakland Raiders. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was terrific in the game, throwing three touchdown passes and throwing for over 300 yards.
** The Tampa Bay Rays get a big win over the Baltimore Orioles, a comeback 5-4 win on Monday that moves the Rays a full game ahead of idle Cleveland for the top AL wild card spot. Texas is a game and a half back after beating Houston 12-0.
** The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds have both clinched playoff spots with wins last night. The Pirates beat the Chicago Cubs 2-1 and the Reds beat the Mets 3-2. Both teams are two games behind St.Louis in the NL Central after the Redbirds beat Washington 4-3.
