The Florida soccer team (8-2-1) was handed its first defeat in eight games Sunday, losing to the Missouri Tigers 1-0 in Columbia. The win was the first for Missouri all-time going head-to-head against the Gators. The Tigers broke through when Kaysie Clark scored her first goal of the season in the ninth minute of play. That scoring play was enough for Missouri, who beat a Top 10 team for the first time since 2011.
Florida failed to threaten the Tigers, who bottled up leading scorer Savannah Jordan holding her and the rest of the team off the scoreboard. The Gators showed signs of life in the second half, but were unable to get on the scoresheet, neutralized by goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein and the Missouri defenders.
For Florida, this will go down as their only loss in the month of September. They will look to get back on track at home when they host South Carolina Friday and Auburn on Sunday.
