The Florida Gator volleyball team took down the Texas A&M Aggies Friday night in the O-dome 3-0 (25-9, 25-23, 25-17). The win was the 700th in head coach Mary Wise's 23 years at Florida. Wise reflected on her success after the match.
Middle blocker Simone Antwi led the team with 12 kills, while setter Taylor Brauneis led the squad in assists with 32. Brauneis said the team worked together to get the win.
Florida breezed through the first set, starting the match on a 15-3 run, before facing a much stiffer challenge from the Aggies in the second and third sets. Wise said a key for the team in overcoming adversity was to hold serve, as Florida did throughout the match.
Next up for the Gators is a road match with the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sunday. First serve is set for 2:30, with coverage beginning on ESPN 850 WRUF at 2:20.
