In his weekly press conference, Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease compared Tyler Murphy to a future NFL Hall of Fame quarterback — Peyton Manning.
Pease said the two quarterbacks, despite their calm demeanor, both share the willingness to get on teammates and coaches if they feel something is not right on the field.
“I think you guys see him as a pretty relaxed guy, but hey, he’s not afraid to say something, “ Pease said. “ I’m not comparing him to any NFL guys, but you watch Peyton Manning and he’s a nice guy but he’s not afraid to say something to a coach or a player and say hey, let’s get it right.”
Murphy threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns against Arkansas and added 15 yards on the ground.
This week, the Gators face an LSU defense that is giving up 367 yards per game while allowing 25 points per contest.
Six weeks in to the season the LSU defense has been uncharacteristically poor — but Pease says LSU has some guys who can makes plays.
“What you see on film is guys who are still athletic, still run around, play with good effort, and understand their scheme.”
Florida plays LSU Saturday at 3:30 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
