Thursday Sports News And Notes…NFL Game, College FB Game, MLB, More

Lots of things going on in our Thursday Sports News and Notes…

** NFL game tonight finds the winless New York Giants facing the Chicago Bears.   Also, former Gator defensive lineman Justin Trattou, recently released by the Giants, has signed with Minnesota.

** College football tonight too as former Gator assistant Charlie Strong leads his unbeaten Louisville Cardinals into a matchup against Rutgers.  Also, USC hosts Arizona.

** Kind of an odd thing going on when LSU hosts Florida this Saturday; LSU is honoring its 2003 team that won a national championship and one of its assistant coaches is none other than Will Muschamp.

** In the MLB playoffs, St.Louis moves on to the NLCS against Los Angeles after beating Pittsburgh 6-1 Wednesday to eliminate the Pirates.   Tonight, a winner take all game in the ALDS as Oakland faces Detroit; the winner takes on Boston in the ALCS.

** The New York Yankees re-sign manager Joe Girardi to a new contract.  He signs a four year deal.

** The Gator women’s tennis team is hosting a tournament starting today at the UF tennis courts.
