Pease Prepares to Shift Ground Game Against Missouri

By on October 15th, 2013

UF football offensive coordinator Brent Pease is getting the Gator offense ready to take on the challenge of Missouri on the road Saturday.  After head coach Will Muschamp announced running back Matt Jones would be out for the season with a torn meniscus, Pease said there would be changes in the run game, with running backs Mack Brown and Kelvin Taylor getting the majority of the carries. Pease said he was very impressed with Taylor to date.

Florida only had 2.8 yards per carry in Baton Rouge, and were outrushed in total by LSU by about 60 yards. While the Gators did not turn the ball over at all, they did concede four sacks. Pease said the blocking has a lot of improvement to do.

Florida faces a Missouri that is unbeaten and coming off a win against Georgia. The Tigers put up 41 points against a top 10 Georgia Bulldogs team. However, Mizzou lost their quarterback James Franklin to a separated shoulder. Even without Franklin, Pease said they're a solid offense and a force to be reckoned with on the defensive side as well.

Florida's game with Missouri kicks off at 12:21pm eastern time, an 11:21am central time start in Columbia. The last time the Gators played in a game before noon they matched up against Vanderbilt in 2010, a 55-14 win.
