The first BCS standings are out, a big shakeup in the college football polls and more in our Monday Sports News and Notes…
** The first BCS rankings are out and to no one’s surprise Alabama is number one. Right behind is FSU at number two and Oregon at number three. Fellow unbeatens Ohio State and Missouri are next in the BCS poll.
** Because of all the upsets this past weekend, the USA Today Coaches Poll has a big shakeup today. Out of the poll are Georgia and Florida, losers to Vanderbilt and Missouri, respectively. LSU also drops to 13th and Texas A&M to 15th after their losses as well.
** The former long time coach of the Washington Huskies football team has died; Don James passed away from cancer at age 80. He won a national title at Washington in 1991 and coached there from 1975-92.
** Monday Night Football tonight has the New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings searching for a win after poor seasons for those teams so far.
** In the Sunday Night NFL game, the Indianapolis Colts knock the Denver Broncos from the unbeaten ranks with a 39-33 win in Peyton Manning’s return to the Indy.
** Jamie McMurray wins the latest Chase for the Cup race at Talladega, Alabama on Sunday; he beats out Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Jimmie Johnson finished 13 to keep the Chase lead.
