The Mississippi State Bulldogs (3-3) will take on the Kentucky Wildcats (1-5) at home tonight in the Thursday night college football match-up. Both teams are looking to win their first SEC game of the season. In the series, Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen is 4-0 against the Wildcats, but this is his first time facing Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops.
“It doesn't quite feel like a rivalry for me yet, being my first game and them in the opposite division. I look at it as another hard, tough, SEC game and going on the road will be a very tough environment. I know how physical they are, and how well coached they are, so it will be a great challenge,” said Stoops.
Both teams run a similar offense, with the Bulldogs recently adopting a two quarterback system like the Wildcats. Expect both teams to use that system tonight.
“They don't run a different offense when a different quarterback is in the game. The statistics tend to trend one way a little bit more than the other. But when you look at Kentucky's quarterbacks, I think are very similar to our situation that we are in. We don't run a different scheme when we put another quarterback in,” said Mullen.
A win for the Bulldogs will mean they only need to win two more games to become bowl eligible. This would be a school record of four-straight bowl appearances.
Kickoff from Davis Wade Stadium will be at 7:30 on ESPN.
