UF Homecoming Game 2014: Florida vs Missouri

By on October 25th, 2013

The Florida Gator football schedule for 2014 has been released.  Highlighting the Gator schedule is the annual Homecoming game in which Florida will face Missouri on October 18th.

Last week, the Tigers were able to knock off their second consecutive ranked opponent for the first time since 1972, defeating the Gators 36-17.  Inserted into the lineup for injured Quarterback James Franklin, Maty Mauk played very well in his first start. The red shirt freshman completed 18-of-36 passes for nearly 300 yards and a touchdown. Florida on the other hand struggled to get any protection on offense, allowing Missouri to sack quarterback Tyler Murphy six times. On top of that, the Tigers racked up 500 yards of offense, while Florida merely gained 151.

Unfortunately, injuries have plagued the Gator football team, and Saturday’s loss extends far beyond the confines of Columbia, Missouri. Florida’s roster has been shaken by a slew of season ending injuries and illnesses that have played a tremendous role in the team’s overall success.

With that being said, most of Florida’s injured players are expected to return next season; giving the Gators a chance to get healthy, gain momentum,  and make a comeback during next year’s match up.

Here is a look at Florida’s complete 2014 schedule (kick off times have yet to be determined):
