The Florida Gator Basketball team hit the court for the first time this season. They faced off against Florida Southern in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in their exhibition game Friday evening, defeating the Mocs 110-88.
Despite preseason mayhem with injuries, illnesses, and suspensions, the Gators were able to shut down some preseason speculation. Florida entered this evening’s match up with 9 players healthy and available, and just 7 of those on scholarship. They finished the competition with 7 scoring in double digits.
Senior forward Casey Prather put up 23 points, 15 in the second half. Patric Young scored 19 points, and the freshman All-American Kasey Hill added another 17 to the board in his Orange & Blue debut.
Other notable players include Will Yeguete who had 12 points, and Eli Carter, DeVon Walker and walk-on Jacob Kurtz finished with 11 each.
