** The new BCS standings are out and Alabama remains on top but the Tide will face a significant test this week playing LSU. FSU overtakes Oregon to go to number two but the Ducks could move back if they can beat Stanford this week. Ohio State and Stanford round out the top five.
** The Gator football team tries to bounce back from a tough loss against Georgia when it hosts Vanderbilt Saturday for Homecoming. The Commodores are 4-4 and are looking to beat Florida for the first time since the 1980’s while the Gators are trying to become bowl eligible, needing two more wins.
** The Detroit Tigers have named former big league catcher Brad Ausmus as their new manager, replacing Jim Leyland. He has little managerial experience.
** The Orlando Magic defeat the Brooklyn Nets 107-86 and the Miami Heat beat Washington 103-93.
** Jimmie Johnson wins the NASCAR race in Texas Sunday and has seized control of the Chase for the Cup with just two races left.
** The Tampa Bay Bucs blow a 21-0 lead and lose at Seattle in overtime 27-24 to remain winless on the season. Kansas City remains unbeaten after knocking off Buffalo 23-13 and Nick Foles throws seven touchdown passes in a Philadelphia rout of Oakland.
** Monday Night Football tonight has two old rivals going at it as Green Bay tangles with Chicago.
