Friday Sports Update

More on the Jameis Winston story, some NFL and college football results and more in our Friday Sports Update…

** FSU quarterback Jameis Winston will play this week when the Seminoles play Idaho but the controversy surrounding him also remains.   Winston’s attorney said Winston voluntarily submitted a DNA sample to police and it matched the DNA found on the underwear of the woman who claims Winston sexually assaulted her.

** UCF’s football team runs its record to 9-1 with a 41-17 thumping of Rutgers that keeps them in line for a possible BCS bowl bid.

** In the NFL, New Orleans is now 9-2 after edging the Atlanta Falcons 17-13 Thursday night.

** The NFL Florida teams will all be in action on Sunday.   Tampa Bay looks for its third straight win when it travels to Detroit; Jacksonville travels to play Houston and Miami hosts red hot Carolina.

** The Gator soccer team resumes play in the NCAA Tournament Friday when it faces Duke on the road.   If Florida wins, it will play the winner of St.John’s-Arkansas on Sunday.
