A new verbal commitment for Gator football, some former Gator football players in the news and more in our Tuesday Sports Update…
** The Gator football program gets its 21st verbal commitment in the 2014 class when athlete Deiondre Porter verbally commits. He had been a verbal to South Florida but the 6’1″ 170 pounder flips to the Gators after a visit to Gainesville last weekend.
** Former Gator Percy Harvin might be available to play in the Super Bowl for the Seattle Seahawks against the Denver Broncos. Harvin has played sparingly this year because of injury and he must be cleared of concussion like symptoms before he could play in the Super Bowl.
** Former Gator wide receiver Ike Hilliard, let go as wide receivers coach this year by the Buffalo Bills, has agreed to the same job with the new staff of the Washington Redskins.
** The Atlanta Hawks break a nine game losing streak against the Miami Heat with a 121-114 win.
** The Gator men’s basketball team is now sixth in both major polls after getting two wins last week. The Gators play at Alabama Thursday.
