The 2013 NFL season came to a rather anticlimactic end on Super Bowl Sunday ass the Seattle Seahawks rip the Denver Broncos 43-8 to win the franchise’s first ever championship.
Former Gator Percy Harvin returned to the lineup after injury and he had a nice impact for the Seahawks, especially when he ran the second half kickoff back for a touchdown that all but put the game out of reach for mismatched Denver.
Harvin will get a Super Bowl ring along with former Gator defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, serving in the same capacity in Seattle, and former Gator defensive back Marquand Manuel who is an assistant coach on the team.
Seattle’s defense, the NFL’s stingiest, never let league Denver quarterback Peyton Manning get going and in fact the MVP of the game was Seattle linebacker Malcolm Smith who returned an interception for a touchdown in the contest.
Manning, one of the all time greats, is now 11-12 in the postseason after this crushing loss. The loss puts a damper on a great regular season both for Manning and the Denver offense but that prolific offense was shut down for the most part by a defense that was the league’s best all year.
