** Lots of area women’s high school basketball tonight in regional quarterfinal action. Buchholz plays Apopka Wekiva in Class 7A, Region 1 while in Class 6A-Region 1 Gainesville hosts Pensacola. Class 5A-Region 2 has Eastside hosting Crystal River and in Class 4A-Region 3 PK Yonge hosts New Port Richey Ridgewood and Santa Fe travels to play Trinity Catholic. In Class 3A-Region 1 Oak Hall hosts Jacksonville Providence .
** In the NBA, the Orlando Magic beat the Detroit Pistons 112-98 and the Miami Heat down the LA Clippers 116-112.
** The Florida women’s basketball team goes on the road tonight to face Arkansas; you can hear the game live on ESPN 850 WRUF starting at 7:45pm.
** In SEC men’s hoops on Wednesday, Florida’s next opponent, Alabama, is beaten by Arkansas 65-58; Auburn beats South Carolina 79-74; Vanderbilt knocks off Tennessee 64-60; and Texas A&M crushes Mississippi State 72-52. LSU faces Georgia tonight.
** You’ll be able to see some of the NFL’s Thursday night game package on CBS starting next season. The first eight games will air on CBS and also be simulcast by the NFL Network who aired the games last year. The last eight Thursday games will be on NFL Network.
** Don’t look now but the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi open today. NBC will provide highlights each night.
