The number one ranked Florida Indoor Track teams are in New Mexico this weekend for the NCAA Championships.
After an impressive performance at the SEC Championships the women’s team?walked away with its?eighth?indoor conference title.?Gator??coach Mike Holloway says his women’s team is good.
“The ladies are starting to buy in,” he said.? “They realize?now?that they are?important not just in the conference but in the national level;?what we have been talking about for the last three or four years is getting them to understand that they can do these types of things.”
Holloway said that recruiting a lot to do with their success.
“And it goes back to recruiting. The big thing we’re recruiting is we don’t ever want to be in a rebuilding mode. We always want to be in a reloading mode and bring in young athletes who can step up as the years go along. If?you look across the country?you look at the people who have qualifying the?men’s and women’s teams and their people who have been successful.”
Florida’s indoor track teams are?attempting to become only the third school (2004-LSU and 2008-Arizona State) to win both the men’s and women’s title in the same year.?? Both are ranked number one going into the competition.
