SEC Men’s Hoops Tournament, Gator News, And More In Sports Update

The SEC men’s basketball tournament is in full swing, lots of Gator sports and more in our Friday Sports Update…

** The SEC men’s basketball tournament continues today after more teams were sent home in action yesterday.? The most crushing loss perhaps came by Arkansas, which lost to South Carolina 71-69, perhaps knocking them out of the NCAA Tournament.

** In other SEC Tournament games, Missouri is Florida’s opponent today after beating Texas A&M 91-83 in double overtime.?? Ole Miss rallied to beat Mississippi State 78-66 and LSU downs Alabama 68-56.

** Lots of Gator sports this weekend.?? The Gator golf teams are in action, the women hosting an event while the men are in Georgia.?? Both Gator tennis teams will play this weekend as will the Florida lacrosse team.

** Chris Fowler will team with Kirk Herbstreit to form ESPN’s Saturday Night College Football play by play team.? Fowler replaces Brent Musburger, who will team with Jesse Palmer as the lead announce team on the SEC Network.?? Fowler will still host College Game Day as well.

** NFL free agent moves continue to be made.? The Jacksonville Jaguars sign veteran defensive end Chris Clemons and they resigned defensive lineman Jason Babin.?? Tampa Bay released defensive back Darrelle Revis who signs with New England.?? And two veterans were let go as receiver Steve Smith is cut by Carolina and linebacker James Harrison is released by Cincinnati.

** Qualifying begins today at the NHRA Gatornationals.?? The Mellow Yello Series qualifying begins at noon.
