The Florida women’s basketball team advances to a second round game in the NCAA Tournament after beating Dayton 83-69 Sunday in State College, Pennsylvania.
The 11th seeded Gators had to come from behind to beat the sixth seeded Flyers, and they did just that in the second half, wiping out a double-digit deficit. Cassie Peoples led Florida with 21 points while Jaterra Bonds and Ronni Williams each chip in with 15 points.
Florida (20-12) will now face Penn State on Tuesday night.
Elsewhere in the NCAA Tournament, SEC teams Texas A&M, South Carolina, LSU, Tennessee and Kentucky all get first round wins. Georgia was a loser in its first round game as was Vanderbilt.
