The 11 seed Dayton Flyers are Elite Eight bound after defeating the 10 seed Stanford Cardinal by a score of 82-72 Thursday in Memphis.
The Flyers were led on the night by junior guard Jordan Sibert who finished with 18 points, shooting 7 of 12 from the field and 4 of 9 from beyond the arc. The Flyers shot 48 percent from the floor and 34 percent from long distance while holding Stanford to just 37 percent from the field and 23 percent from beyond the arc.
Both teams finished with four players in double figures but Dayton got 34 points from its bench compared to just two for Stanford. Dayton played 11 players in the game and could rely on its bench again against the Gators. The Cardinal finished with just five fast break points compared to Dayton’s 14 and found only 10 assists compared to 19 for Dayton.
The Flyers will now play on Saturday against Florida and will look for their second Final Four appearance in program history.
