Gator Gymnastics Repeats As National Champs

The Florida gymnastics team has won its second straight national championship and it did so in history making fashion on Saturday night in Birmingham, Alabama.

The top ranked Gators make history not by repeating, but by tying for the championship with Oklahoma.   Both teams had identical scores of 198.175 in the Super Six and both teams are considered national champions.

The Gators trailed both Alabama and Oklahoma going into their final rotation on floor and the Gators responded with some great scores while Alabama crumbled, having to count falls on its first and last beam rotation to give UF and Oklahoma a shot.

Ironically, Florida and Oklahoma competed against each other in early January in Gainesville where Florida earned a close victory.
