The NBA playoffs, the NHL playoffs, big league baseball and an important NCAA move all in our Friday Sports Update…

** Some favored teams are in trouble in the NBA playoffs.   East top seed Indiana falls at Atlanta 98-85 to now trail 2-1 in the series.   West two seed Oklahoma City falls at Memphis 98-95 to go down 2-1 in that series.  The LA Clipper hold off Golden State 9896 to go up 2-1 in that series.   More playoff action tonight.

** In the NHL playoffs, Boston downs Detroit 3-2 to go up 3-1 in the series and Minnesota edges Colorado 2-1 to tie that series at 2-2.  The LA Kings stave off elimination by beating San Jose 6-3 but the Sharks are still up 3-1 in the series.  Three more games tonight.

** In baseball, Tampa Bay falls to 10-12 after losing 9-7 to Minnesota Thursday.   The Rays will play the Chicago White Sox this weekend.   Miami will play the New York Mets and Atlanta hosts Cincinnati.

** New York Yankee pitcher Michael Pineda has been suspended 10 games for having pine tar on his neck and allegedly using it in a game earlier this week on a baseball.

** The SEC men’s golf championship starts today in Georgia.

** The NCAA’s Board of Directors endorsed sweeping changes that could allow the biggest schools in college football to basically dictate their own policies in many areas including funding scholarships and increased health care.   A formal vote on the proposals is schedule for August.
