UF Diving Coach Donnie Craine Dies In Accident

Long time University of Florida diving coach Donnie Craine has died in a boating accident off the coast of Bokeelia in Lee County in Florida.

Craine died Thursday and leaves behind a wife and three children.

Craine spent 30 of his 37 years coaching at Florida, beginning in 1976 when he coached the Gator divers after graduating from the University of Michigan.   He left five years later but returned in 1989.

While at Florida, he was the SEC Diving Coach of the Year four times and he coached five NCAA champions including the first for the Gators, Chris Snode, back in 1978.  He coached numerous All-SEC divers as well.
