The NBA playoffs have one team moving on, the NBA announces what penalties if any Clippers owner Donald Sterling will receive and more in our Tuesday Sports Update.
** The Miami Heat become the first team to advance in the NBA playoffs as they beat Charlotte 109-98 Monday to sweep their first round series. Miami now will face the winner of the Brooklyn-Toronto series.
** In other NBA playoff games Monday, Atlanta goes up 3-2 on East top seed Indiana with a 107-97 win and San Antonio squares its series with Dallas at 2-2 with a 93-89 win at Dallas. Three games are to be played tonight.
** NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will announce what penalties, if any, LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling will receive in light of a tape that became public that has Sterling allegedly making racist comments.
** The NHL playoffs continued Monday. Pittsburgh advances with a 4-3 win over Columbus while Minnesota beat Colorado 5-2 to square that series at 3-3. Los Angeles tops San Jose 4-1 to even that series at 3-3. Today, the New York Rangers can eliminate Philadelphia with a win.
** In college hoops, Kim Anderson has been hired as the new men’s basketball coach at Missouri. The 58 year old is a former player at Mizzou.
** In baseball, the Chicago White Sox beat Tampa Bay 7-3. The Rays begin a series with Boston tonight while Atlanta travels to face Miami.
** The Washington Nationals will be without outfielder Bryce Harper until at least July after it was announced he’ll have to have surgery on an injured thumb.
