Lots of Gator sports and more in our Monday Sports Update…
** The Florida softball team captures its NCAA Regional with a 7-0 win over UCF to advance to a Super Regional this weekend; Florida will host Washington with the winner going to the College World Series.
** The Gator women’s tennis team is in the Final Four of the NCAA Championships and will play UCLA today.
** The Gator baseball team will be the top seed for the SEC Tournament that starts tomorrow. Florida plays the winner of the Alabama-Kentucky game Wednesday.
** In the NBA, the Miami Heat fall to the Indiana Pacers 107-96 in Indiana in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. Game 2 tomorrow. Tonight, Game 1 of the Western Conference final as San Antonio hosts Oklahoma City.
** In the NHL, Chicago tops the LA Kings 3-1 in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals. Tonight, Montreal hosts the New York Rangers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals with NY up 1-0.
** In baseball, Tampa Bay loses at the Los Angeles Angels 6-2 Sunday. San Francisco tops Miami 4-1 to split a four game series and Atlanta scored two runs in the ninth inning to beat St.Louis 6-5. Tampa Bay and Miami are off today while the Braves host Milwaukee.
** Ed Carpenter won the pole for the Indianapolis 500 race for the second straight year. The race will be run Sunday.
