The Florida softball team hosts a Super Regional starting Saturday and will play Washington for the right to go to the College World Series.
The Gators have not lost a Super Regional game since losing to Texas A&M in 2007, a span of 10 games. But Florida (48-11) will face a very good Huskie team that, like Florida, did not allow a run in its NCAA Regional victory at home.
Washington is 36-13 on the year and is similar to Florida in many ways. Each team had a mid season slump before finding themselves late in the year and pitching and defense are strengths.
An advantage for Florida might be the weather; it was 65 degrees when Washington won its NCAA Regional and temperatures for the Super Regional games are expected to be in the mid 90’s.
Saturday’s game is at 1pm and Sunday’s game will be at noon and at 3pm, if necessary in the best two out of three match up.
