World Series, Playoffs, Regionals, More In Friday Sports Update

Our Friday Sports Update talks up NCAA Baseball Regionals, softball College World Series, NBA and NHL playoffs, baseball and much more…

** The women’s softball College World Series is underway in Oklahoma City.  Florida beat Baylor 11-0 and will play top seed Oregon next, a 3-0 winner over FSU.   Kentucky beat Louisiana-Lafayette and Alabama topped Oklahoma in first round play.

** NCAA baseball regionals crank up all over the country today including in Gainesville where Florida hosts College of Charleston, North Carolina and Long Beach State.

** The New York Rangers advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 20 years after beating the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 Thursday.   New York plays either Los Angeles or Chicago with that series 3-2 in favor of LA.

** The San Antonio Spurs rip the Oklahoma City Thunder 117-89 to go up 3-2 in the NBA Western Conference Final.   Tonight, Miami can go the NBA Finals with a win over Indiana; the Heat lead that Eastern Conference series 3-2.

** In baseball, Boston completes a four game sweep of Atlanta with a 4-3 walk off win on Thursday.  The Braves are at Miami this weekend while Tampa Bay is at Boston.

** Three former Gator golfers are in the PGA Memorial Tournament this weekend.  After the first round, Billy Horschel and Camilo Villegas are at one under par, eight shots off the lead.  Matt Every is at plus two.
