** In big league baseball, former Gator Anthony DeSclafani started for the Miami Marlins last night but was not involved in the decision in a 6-5 Miami win over the Chicago Cubs.   DeSclafani pitched into the seventh inning, giving up four runs.

** The Tampa Bay Rays lose to the Baltimore Orioles 7-5 as the O’s use a five run third inning to get the win.

** Atlanta loses 5-2 to Philadelphia as the Phillies win their sixth game in their last eight tries.

** Quarterback Johnny Manziel has signed his rookie contract with the Cleveland Browns.   It is a four year deal with a team option for a fifth year.

** The Houston Texans announce that Ryan Fitzpatrick has won the starting quarterback job while the Minnesota Vikings say all three of their quarterbacks, Teddy Bridgewater, Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel will all get a chance to win the job.

** The United States next plays in the World Cup Sunday against Portugal and it is hoping to have Jozy Altidore back from injury.  Altidore suffered a hamstring injury in the U.S. win over Ghana a few days ago.
