No Gators In NBA Draft, Baseball, UF Lacrosse In New League,n Friday Sports Update

The NBA Draft is history, some big league baseball results, Wimbledon and more in our Friday Sports Update…

** The NBA Draft is history and no Gator players were selected.   Many believed front court man Patrick Young would be drafted but he was not and now he will look to other options.

** In baseball, Houston tops Atlanta 6-1 and Philadelphia nips Miami 5-4 in 14 innings.   This weekend Tampa Bay plays Baltimore while the Marlins host Oakland and Atlanta plays Philadelphia.

** The Gator lacrosse program will join the Big East Conference starting next season.  Vanderbilt will also join the league after the American Lacrosse Conference, where Florida also played, was dismantled after this past season.

** Wimbledon continues today after Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer were among the men’s winners yesterday.  Women’s top seed Serena Williams was also victorious.

** New Florida A&M athletic director Kellen Winslow is trying to forge new ground with the school and it announced it was dropping it’s men’s tennis and golf programs to be better in line with Title IX requirements.
