** The World Cup final is now set after Argentina beat Netherlands 4-2 in penalty kicks yesterday; Argentina faces Germany on Sunday for the World Cup title.
** Good news for those who want the new SEC Network; it will be available in the Gainesville area on the Cox Communications cable system; the network kicks off August 14th.
** Former Gator basketball player Chandler Parsons has been with the Houston Rockets for his entire NBA career but reports today indicate he has agreed to an offer sheet from the Dallas Mavericks; the Rockets can match the offer.
** LeBron James and Miami Heat general manager Pat Riley have met but the free agent has not yet announced a decision as to where he will play next year. The Cleveland Cavaliers engineered a trade yesterday that frees up money to sign James to a maximum level contract.
** In baseball, Tampa Bay loses 5-4 to Kansas City; Atlanta loses 4-1 to the NY Mets and Miami falls 4-3 to Arizona. Tampa Bay and Miami are off today while the Braves again play the Mets.
