The Gainesville Hurricanes (2-2, 1-0) will host the Ocala Forest Wildcats (1-3, 1-0) tonight at Citizen’s Field in a 6A district game.
Gainesville junior quarterback Caelan Christian has been carving up defenses around the state. Christian has thrown for 827 yards and nine touchdowns heading into Friday.
The Wildcats will focus on a much more grounded attack. Senior running back Tony Mckenzie has racked up 417 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Both teams are 1-0 in District 5-6A while Citrus and Lake Weir each have a loss. Vanguard has yet to play a district matchup.
“We’re viewing this as a possible district championship game,” said Hurricanes head coach Mark Latsko. “The kids are excited, it’s our homecoming week… we’re going to try our best to come home with a W.”
Kickoff from Citizen’s Field is set for 7:00 p.m.

** The Union County Tigers (4-1, 0-0) host Dixie County (4-0, 1-0) in a big rivalry district game. Kickoff coming at 7:30 p.m.
** The Oak Hall Eagles (0-4, 0-3) are looking for their first win of the season as they host St. Francis Catholic (2-4, 2-1). Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
**The Newberry Panthers (2-3, 1-0) play a district game tonight as they travel to take on the Williston Red Devils (1-3, 0-1). Kickoff coming at 7:30 p.m.
