Florida Lacrosse Opens Season Against UNC

The Florida lacrosse team opens its season on Saturday at home welcoming number two North Carolina. This is the sixth time that the teams have met but the first time that UNC will be in Gainesville. Florida comes in ranked fourth in the country.

“We welcome the University of North Carolina for the first time ever here to Gainesville on Saturday. So it will be nice to start the season with a home game and they are a… top ranked team… so this will be a huge game for us and one that we are very much looking forward to,” said Florida coach Amanda O’Leary.

Florida is in a new conference this year, the Big East, and is the preseason favorite to win the title.

“You know this is a great conference. You know Georgetown is a top ranked team across the board, Vanderbilt again that’s another team we’ve played every single year so this is a wonderful conference for us to be a part of,” said O’Leary.

The team welcomes back 10 starters for the 2015 season.

The game starts at 11:30 AM at the Dizney Lacrosse Stadium and the first 500 fans will receive a Florida Lacrosse fleece blanket.
