The Florida baseball team continues a long stretch of home games this weekend when it hosts the Maine Black Bears.
Florida is 11-2 on the season after splitting two games with UCF earlier this week. Maine is 4-9 on the season and has been playing games in Florida to get out of their weather situation. The Black Bears beat Bethune Cookman 11-8 in their most recent game.
Maine hits .286 as a team and they are led at the plate by senior Luke Morrill who is hitting .422 on the season. Senior Sam Balzano hits .328 for the club, which has not hit a home run yet this year.
Maine features former Gator player Kevin Stypulkowski, who played at UF as a freshman before transferring to a junior college for one season; he’s hitting .267 on the year.
Pitching has been an issue for Maine for most of the year as its staff earned run average is 5.98. Senior Scott Heath leads them with a 2-0 record with a 3.32 earned run average.
The Gators will start Logan Shore on the mound Friday, AJ Puk on Saturday and Dane Dunning on Sunday.
