After scoring 60 runs in four games last week the Florida baseball team has all the confidence in the world as they hope to take a rubber match against in state rival Florida State Tuesday night.
Two Gators who will not make the trip to Tallahassee are sophomore arms A.J. Puk and Kirby Snead. The two pitchers were arrested and charged for trespassing late Sunday night. Puk has six wins and leads Florida with 45 strikeouts this season. Snead has played in a lesser but still relevant role on the mound throwing in 13 games this year.
Florida has not announced a starter for Tuesday night’s game. Last time out at Dick Howser Stadium UF knocked off the top ranked Noles 8-0.
Florida’s own J.J. Schwarz was chosen as one of Louisville Slugger’s National Players of the Week. Schwarz put up video game numbers knocking seven dingers while driving in 15 runs to go along with a .529 batting average in last week’s games.
The 28-9 Gators are ranked eighth in the most recent Baseball America standings after finishing this past week 4-0. FSU is nationally ranked as well.
You can hear the game live on Country 103-7 The Gator at 5:55 pm where Jeff Cardoz0 and Steve Russell will have the call.
