Gator sports, MLB, NHL playoffs, NBA regular season ends and more in our Thursday Sports Update…
** The Gator softball team is now 41-4 after blanking USF 7-0 Wednesday. Next up a road series at Georgia this weekend.
** Gator lacrosse rips Cincinnati 20-1 Wednesday at home to win the Big East regular season title. UF next plays at Connecticut this weekend.
** Gator baseball pitchers Kirby Snead and AJ Puk have had felony charges against them reduced to misdemeanors according to State Attorney Bill Cervone. If they do what they are supposed to do, their records will be clean after they were arrested a few days ago for climbing on a crane at a construction site.
** The Gator women’s basketball team has hired two new assistant coaches after two others were let go from the staff. Shimmy Gray-Miller (Nebraska) and Bill Ferrera (George Washington) are the new staff coaches for UF. Ferrara is a UF graduate.
** The NBA regular season is now over and the playoffs will begin soon. Miami and Orlando do not make the playoffs.
** The NHL playoffs began last night with more action tonight.
** In baseball, Miami downs Atlanta 6-2 while Tampa Bay loses 12-7 against Toronto.
