Gator baseball begins play in the College World Series; NBA Finals now even, Stanley Cup Final even and baseball and soccer and more in our Friday Sports Update…
** The Gator track teams are competing in the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The men’s champion will be crowned today with the women’s competition ending Saturday.
** The Gator baseball team plays in the College World Series in Omaha Saturday night against Miami. It will be the opening game for both teams.
** The NBA Finals are tied 2-2 after Golden State rips Cleveland 103-82 Thursday night in Cleveland. Game 5 at Golden State.
** The Stanley Cup Finals are tied 2-2 with Game 5 set for Chicago Saturday as the Black Hawks host Tampa Bay.
** The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team will face Sweden in World Cup play today.
** In baseball, San Diego downs Atlanta 6-4; Miami blanks Colorado 6-0 and Tampa Bay loses 6-2 to the LA Angels. This weekend, the Rays host the Chicago White Sox, Colorado is at Miami and the Braves are at the New York Mets.
** And a sad note today as former pro wrester Dusty Rhodes has passed away at the age of 69.
