The British Open spills over into Monday, MLB results, Tour de France and more in our Monday Sports Update…
** Because of bad weather, the British Open’s final round will be played today and more bad weather is expected. A large number of golfers are in contention as the final round continues.
** In MLB action, Toronto downs Tampa Bay 4-0, Philadelphia edges Miami 8-7 and Atlanta loses 4-1 to the Chicago Cubs. Tonight, the Braves host the LA Dodgers while Miami is at Arizona and Tampa Bay is at Philadelphia.
** Some MLB players with local ties did well yesterday. Pitcher Andrew Miller of Gainesville picked up his 20th save in 20 chances for the New York Yankees and former Gator Preston Tucker had three hits and drove in two runs in a Houston win over Texas.
** Kyle Busch wins his third NASCAR race of the year after taking the checkered flag at the NASCAR race in New Hampshire. He beats out Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick for the win.
** The Tour de France heads into the alps with Chris Froome enjoying a big lead in the race. Stage 16 of the event is today.
