The Florida Gator volleyball team kicks off its 2015 season this weekend. The Gators travel to Virginia on Saturday to take on James Madison University and then head to Washington D.C. to face American University.
Florida head coach Mary Wise preview’s this weekend’s upcoming games.
“Both schools have their leading point scorer’s back, so that will catch your eye, but so do we in Alex Holston,” she said.
The Gators come into the season ranked number four in the nation after winning the SEC and making an impressive run in the post season last year. Florida lost to number one seed Stanford in the NCAA Regionals.
Florida lost three starters from last year; Maddy Monserez, Holly Pole, and Taylor Unroe and Wise talks about her team’s biggest challenge going into this year.
“The biggest challenge right now for us is replacing the three defensive players, those three great seniors from a year ago that played every set of every match.”
Saturday’s match is set for 7 p.m. while Sunday’s match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. You can listen to both games on ESPN Gainesville 95.3 FM starting at 6:50 and 3:50 respectively.
