MLB Preview: American League With Full Evening Slate

There’s plenty of action to go around in the MLB Tuesday night with 15 American league teams set to return to the diamond.

New York Yankees vs Baltimore Orioles (7:05 pm)

The Yankees (46-46) will look to keep their momentum going against the Orioles (55-38) after winning the first game of their four game set on Monday. Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez broke his one month homerun drought after launching a fastball into left centerfield in the bottom of the second inning. Rodriguez says he was glad to be able to finally contribute to the team offensively.

Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (7-6, 5.11 ERA) will face off against Baltimore’s Vance Worley (2-0, 2.87 ERA) at Yankee Stadium.

Minnesota Twins @ Detroit Tigers (7:10pm)

The Twins (33-59) will try to bounce back against the Tigers (49-44) tonight after losing to them in Detroit on Monday. Tonight’s game will be the second game of their three game set and lefty Tommy Milone (2-2, 5.23 ERA) will look to lead them to victory against Tigers righty Anibal Sanchez (5-10, 6.75 ERA).

San Francisco Giants @ Boston Red Sox (7:10pm)

In interleague play, the Giants (57-36) and the Red Sox (51-39) will face off tonight after both teams had the day off on Monday. The Giants were swept by the Padres on the road in their weekend series, while Boston took two out of three from the Yankees in their set.

Jake Peavy (5-7, 5.09 ERA) will try to get the Giants back on track as he looks to out duel Boston’s Rick Porcello (11-2, 3.66 ERA).

Cleveland Indians @ Kansas City Royals (8:15pm)

The Royals (47-45) will go for their second straight win at home when they play the Indians (54-38) tonight at Kauffman Stadium. Royals right fielder Jarrod Dyson hit a grand slam that book ended a seven run eighth inning that earned them the victory on Monday night. Dyson says they earned the win because of a great team effort.

Lefty Brian Flynn (1-0, 2.39 ERA) will take the mound for Kansas City as he looks to get just his second win of the season. Danny Salazar (10-3, 2.75 ERA), fresh off of his first All-Star selection will take the rubber for the Indians.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Colorado Rockies (8:40pm)

The Rays (35-57) will look to snap their 11 game road losing streak when they take on the Rockies (43-49) in Colorado tonight. Rookie lefty pitcher Blake Snell (1-4, 3.69 ERA) will get his chance at earning just his second win of the season as he tries to lead his team to victory. On the other side of the fence, righty Tyler Chatwood (8-5, 3.29 ERA) will be looking to get back on track after a couple of rough outings, nursing a back strain.

Toronto Blue Jays @ Arizona Diamondbacks (9:40pm)

The Blue Jays (52-42) and Diamondbacks (40-53) will begin a two game set tonight at Chase Field. Both teams are coming off of a rest day on Monday after earning wins on Sunday. Arizona is going for its third straight win at home, while the Blue Jays are going for their second straight road win. Aaron Sanchez (9-1, 2.97 ERA) will get the start for Toronto, with Zack Godley (2-0, 5.28 ERA) getting the start for Arizona.

Houston Astros @ Oakland Athletics (10:05pm)

The Astros (50-43) will face off against the A’s (41-52) tonight as they try to earn their first win of their three game series. The A’s defeated the Astros by a score of 7-4 on Monday night in the first game of their set. Tonight will be a battle between two lefties as Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel (6-10, 4.80 ERA) makes his first start since the All-Star break, while Oakland’s Dillon Overton (1-1, 11.42 ERA) makes just his third career start.

Texas Rangers @ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (10:05pm)

The Angels (41-52) are going for their fifth straight win at home as they face the Rangers (55-39) at Angel Stadium tonight. Tim Lincecum (1-3, 6.85 ERA) will take the mound for Los Angeles as he goes against Rangers pitcher Kyle Lohse (0-1, 10.80 ERA). The Rangers will look to redeem themselves after dropping the first game of the series 9-5 on Monday night.

Chicago White Sox @ Seattle Mariners (10:10pm)

The Mariners (47-46) will face the White Sox (45-47) at home tonight, fresh off of their walk off win on Monday courtesy of an Adam Lind home run. Pitcher Jose Quintana (7-8, 3.21 ERA) will step on the mound for the White Sox as they try to snap a five game losing skid. Fellow lefty Wade Miley (6-6, 5.44 ERA) will be on the mound representing the Mariners.
