A week free of matches seemed to give the 11th ranked Florida volleyball team (14-2, 4-1) back its momentum. Florida handed South Carolina (13-4, 1-4) its third straight loss Sunday afternoon, 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-19).
Sunday afternoon’s match in South Carolina was a Gator dominated one led by Rhamat Alhassan’s 15 points.
Alhassan was joined by senior Alex Holston (12) and freshman Rachael Kramer (11) to make up 38 of the Gator’s 53 points against the Gamecocks. Holston led the team in kills with 11 while Caroline Knop hit the floor to make 17 of Florida’s 39 digs while adding two service aces.
As usual, setter Allie Monserez did not disappoint led both teams in assists with 33.

The Gators went on a few runs during the match, their biggest being a 9-1 run in the second set that gave Florida a 15-8 lead over the Gamecocks. South Carolina did come back out playing hard in the third set, but it just wasn’t enough to slow the Gators down. Sunday’s loss marked South Carolina’s 18th straight loss to the Gators.
Florida will next be in action Friday on the road at LSU.
