In their twelfth clean sweep of the season, the No. 10 Florida Gator Volleyball team beat the Georgia Bulldogs 3-0, (25-19, 25-19, 25-8) to tie for the second spot in the SEC.
Key Points
Florida (18-2, 8-1 SEC) dominated the match from the very beginning. Alex Holston put down five of her 15 kills during the first set. Carli Snyder added 15 kills of her own during the match, scoring the second most points of match with 15. Holston scored the highest amount of points, 17, of both teams. For the Bulldog’s, Maddie Lobenstein left the court with a team-high of nine points and seven kills.
Both teams served six aces each. Allie Monserez served for four aces. Two of those aces came from back-to-back serves during a Florida 12-0 run in the third set. In addition to her aces, Monserez accounted for 34 of the Gator’s 43 assists.

Monserez says her teammates’ passing skills is what makes her job look so easy.
Caroline Knop joined Monserez in assists, putting up 9 of her own. Knop led both teams in digs, with 13.
The Teams
With the exception of the six aces for both teams in the match, Georgia (13-9, 1-8 SEC) did not outplay the Gators. The Bulldogs were held to only 39 points, whereas the Gators had 58.5. Florida ended the match with a hitting efficiency of .438 to Georgia’s .173.
During each set, though, Georgia’s powerful serves did give the Gators a few challenges. Florida head coach Mary Wise says even though Georgia doesn’t have the best record now, they’ll be a team to be aware of during the second half of the SEC season.
