Game Analysis:

Santa Fe this season has shown a history of putting up big points in the first quarter. They’ll need to replicate this early success to defeat South Sumter, who is averaging more points in the second and third quarters.

Santa Fe has found much of their offensive success through its rushing attack this year, averaging just under 200 rushing yards per game. They’ll be relying on their leading rusher Jalen Jones to enforce their will on this South Sumter defense.

Julien Cromwell, the Santa Fe starting quarterback, has shown success both through the air and on the ground. He is the team’s leader in passing yards and total offense, showing his versatility to be able to run the ball as well.
The South Sumter offense will have to face Tryston Dejesus, Santa Fe’s team leader in tackles per game, and Gentle Hunt, posting 1.5 sacks per game this season.
The Santa Fe offensive unit may have their hands full with this South Sumter defensive unit. South Sumter has shut out three opponents this year. They’ve beaten Umatilla 41-0, topped Tavares on the road 54-0, and most recently defeated Mount Dora in their most recent game by a score of 42-0. Not to mention, these two teams clashed last year and the South Sumter was the team to be shut out. They will look to follow up last year’s defeat of 26-0 with a bit of vengeance.

Cliff Harrell’s Thoughts

Santa Fe’s head football coach, Cliff Harrell comments on the success of South Sumter’s quarterback this season. One advantage that South Sumter has is their senior leadership on this year’s team. South Sumter has a large number of seniors on their roster.  He also believes a key to winning the game is in minimizing turnovers and in creating turnovers on defense.  According to Harrell, big improvements have been made both on offense with respect to reads and on defense with their tackling.
